TrueStory

I'M SORRY, I am truly the worst blogger ever but promise from now on I'll be back to posting daily. WANNABE SHE IS NOW A .COM - BOOM!

So, as it stands we have a lot of catching up to do? Where the hell do I even start? I'll need to break it down..

Sunday the 12th was the INAA Hair & Beauty Awards, my day was manic as usual running about like a total headless chicken, You would think on the day that your company had been planning for the last 6 months you would be organised? Hell no. So after talking myself into some form of sanity everything eventually fell into place, Hair did, Nails did, Collected dress from Carolyn's sisters house (Carolyn Baxter, girl who made my beautiful dress) I in fact got ready in the Marriott toilets in 10mins flat, I probably shouldn't tell you the unglamorous parts of my life? But then I would be missing out a great deal! So a quick change and face painted, I was finally ready.

Wearing Carolyn Baxter standing with the Woman herself

After some 'pre drinks' (It definitely wouldn't have been referred as that by anyone but I can't think of another way of wording drinks in the lobby) the ballroom was opened and we were all greeted with a glass of pink champaign then seated at our tables. Obviously with INAA organising the whole event we were hosting our clients so each member of the team manned a table, I had literary been seated for 5 minutes when Elizabeth (an INAA member) rushed over to me, "Lauren, MOVE!" Now this is a remark I would have maybe expected to hear towards the end of the night trying to get me to most likely move away from the bar, but no. Of course it had to happen when the clients at my table are sober and needing entertained. So, under instruction and being shimmy shammy'd through the hotel, myself Elizabeth and Gary from Hely Hair congregated in the lift where I was informed I now a Make Up Artist. No, I am not kidding. Rita rusk, a Scottish legend that has made her mark all over the world in the hair industry was being awarded Life Time Achievement. Her make up artist hadn't turned up, and a girl someone had found her 'she didn't quite fancy' I'm thinking to myself at this moment in time, I am going into a hotel room, impersonating a make up artist with only the make up that is in my clutch bag. Thankfully she just wanted her base put on and basic eye and red lips. I don't think my hands have ever been that shaky not ideal when your doing make up, But I think she looked swell! Listen to me trying to move into yet another industry. DEFINITELY NOT. Leaving that one to the Pro's for sure.

Make Up by Lauren Andrew (lol)

After that fiasco the night went amazingly! Such a moment in our company. Everyone with no exceptions had an unbelievable night, Including the TOWIE Gang, Mr Mark Wright man of the moment and his 'fiance' Lauren Goodger partied with us right through. Hat off to the boss man Jossie Jo, printed version Joanne Reid, she sure knows how to throw a party!!

Gary Wilson - Originally from Dundee, Gary now lives and study's in Newcastle. We first met at a party years ago where he had some of his sketches for a Jumpsuit he had designed for a Topshop competition that he had in fact won,  his designs turned into the real thing and was sold in stores through out the U.K, this kind of sets the mark to where Gary's at. I truly believe he has 'It' So talented and down to earth.

So after not hearing from him for a while I got a random email asking me to Shoot in one of his designs. He needed photos of the dress being worn as it being sent to Nicola Formichetti. LADY GAGA'S STYLIST. So of course at the drop of a hat I pulled a team together (Photographer Derrick Argent & MUA Kaeleigh Wallace) Gary brought along his friend Emma to do a fashion video as an added extra! Kaeleigh, like me unfortunately works way too much so instead of coming to the shoot, We met at her house AM to do make up prior to the shoot. Once make up was done I travelled over to the west end to Derrick's studio. I don't think I need to talk you through this one, I'll just let the pictures do that instead.

Well? What do you think? Even more excited about the Video is that even possible. I have a good feeling its going to be AH MAZING.

So in between Shoots INAA & Cruise, when maniacally running for the train I passed Waterstones, NOW. I swear, every time I have tried to buy 'The Secret' It was out of stock. In London, at my dad's in Manchester and numerous occasions in Glasgow. I had heard you were meant to be given the secret like passed on so it was driving me insane because no one was passing it on to me! So in a last attempt before I had to do the feared internet shop I had a quick check. & AT LAST. It was in stock and ready to purchase. Seriously GO GET IT, NOW, NO NOT LATER RIGHT NOW! Its a book that will change your way of thinking. I used to live life like 'expect the worst then your never disappointed' ALL WRONG.  Its all about energy, positive and negative, The Law of Attraction.

Rant almost over, another little pur-chase a book called 'The Game' written by Neil Strauss. Its a book written for men, about dating and relationship etc etc, but since I don't get 'The Game' I thought I would get one up on them and learn it so I can play it BETTER

Artpunk Muir also known as Paul, a photographer I had never worked with before, totally different style to anyone I've shot with before which is ideal, need to keep changing it up! ALWAYS, variety is key. So Paul had in fact made a leotard with red fringing on it, he'd been inspired by some video he came across. Prior to the shoot Paul had emailed me reminding me to bring black underwear. Quite uncommon as its normally nude. So of course I totally forget the black underwear, Only realising when he hands over the leotard so I can get changed, I said, so what am I meant to wear under it? The black under wear I told you to bring? SHIT. We were thankfully right in the middle of town at The Buff Club, ideal as I had to go make a quick dash to the shop. We finally got started.

I had just got my dress from the awards back from the dry cleaners so we ended up doing a few shots in that too!

Was really happy with the outcome of this shoot and was really lovely working with you Paul!

Every time paul shoot's he takes a picture up against a wall, so that's what we did, At first my pose was a lot more lady like but Paul was having none of it. This is the result. Charming

As you know I try and work out when I can, but cardio just ain't my thing. I'm more a weights girl. But these days I'm lucky if I get to workout at all! Now, Zumba - Me? No never, until Ms Daley talked me into it. We got the train together over to barrhead, green tea in hand. & I can honestly say I had fun and I sweated. Would definitely do it again, much fun. TRY IT.

So, I think I'm done with my Update. Lots happened and so much more to come!
Its Good To Be Back

I Need a Dollar

Today, I was up at the total crack of dawn To start work at INAA as I had a shoot for Cameo Vintage in the afternoon! 4am wake up call, I was less than amused to find it was still dark outside! I think this is why I love winter, Its against nature to get out of bed if the sky is black? Right? So winter is the perfect season as its pretty much dark right round the clock. Bed and sleep all day. Hibernation season! If only! So after my battle with the covers and comfort of bed, I ended up not moving from my computer for about 8 hours, Solid work.. So, I had a nice, well deserved ,relaxing bath before scooting to the west end to the studio.

The shoot went well! & the owner Julie, I think & Hope was happy. I had my 'crew' around me so was in a 'happy place' lets just say! Met some lovely new people too, Siân Lidgate, Emma Wilson & Lana Cairns always a bonus when there is positive/helpful people around! Big up talented-ambitious-determined people. LOVE MY LIFE SOMETIMES! There was way too much stuff too shoot in one go so a 2nd shoot has to been scheduled in, Julie has had the Vintage clothes shipped in from LA so all the clothes were a really high standard, As soon as I walked into the studio this red striped jumpsuit was like calling my name. It was beaut! So I obviously 'shot-gunned' it. So when we eventually got around to it, Got it on, hands in the pockets & I found A DOLLAR! $$$$$, I need dollar. Somewhere someone was trying to tell me something & Julie let me keep it. WINNER.

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." Audrey Hepburn
Julie - Cameo Vintage's Owner had the first part of this as a tattoo wrapping up her arm, sum's her up from what I gathered. Pure, Genuine Lovely person. A rarity I'm sure you'll agree.

Tonight when I returned home I had a few emails to send then my mum and I did some last minute shopping for the Awards on Sunday. Yes, my Mum is my plus 1. We're going to get our hair done during the day then one of my favourite make up artists Kaeleigh Wallace is doing our faces! WOOPA. Excitement.

I am so god damn tired It's going to be an early one for me. Some Sex in The City in bed & a good snooze. Working in Cruise tomorrow then Drinks at my friends house. Charming. Love a drunken night in.

Above is a shoot I did last year, Location - Brunswick Hotel in Glasgow's Penthouse. Photographer Jonathan Pryce - http://www.lesgarconsdeglasgow.com/ Blogger, Street Style Photographer, Writer! Genuinely lovely guy. So talented and smart! That's what its all about. The concept of the shoot was based on American brand Wildfox. One of my favourite labels. Rainbow room international - Hair, Sarah Vieira Da Cruz & Emma Parker - Make Up, Myself & Abi Barr from The Model Team - Models, I doubled up as I normally do as Stylist too. Conclusion? Well. You tell me.

Music is the Answer

Whatever the question is, music is the Answer; This is my conclusion or even my closure, I swear music has pulled me out of whatever catch 22 I got myself in & I'm back to feeling really good. Life is way too short not to smile & Embrace every day. Let the good times roll!

Listen, if that's not a chirpy/cheery/cheesy opening blog then I dunno what is!

Such a late & what I feel could be totally irrelevant review seen as Its been out for weeks. But I laughed the whole way through the Hangover part 2! It was SO funny. Equally as good as the 1st one and to be fair, it was always going to be pretty impossible to follow the 1st one up & I thought they nailed it. Bradley Cooper - every time he gets me. LOVE him. Such fun - Drinks after the cinema, one of my many ideas that seem brilliant at the time, but my 7am wake up call was received in such a different light. OUCH.

Mega-stress-head's @ INAA, as Sunday is creeping up at a rather fast pace all the director's have been less than cool calm and collected. As we all feel comfortable with each other, the stress boils up in each others face rather than the culprits! But I guess that's just part of it, part of business and life. You will always take it out on the one's closest to you. THAT IS MY EXCUSE & I'M STICKING TO IT.

Cameo Vintage shoot tomorrow! I am excited but at the same time my already overwhelmingly busy week is now going to pretty much be a sleepless one too! For everyone reading this who knows me, I should be used to this right? No. It seems that my little body cannot hack the pace any more. & I truly love and appreciate sleep! Who knew? Kick off in the Afternoon, I guess it will be a supper late one. Julia Bell & Derrick Argent two of my favourite people to work with. I'm sure we will be able to have fun while we work!

My head's back in the game of 'LA YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO SIT YOUR DRIVING TEST' I will take this up again next week. I promise! Also, started looking for a flat. Yes, I am going to be sensible and invest some money in bricks & water at the end of the year! I actually moved out of my house when I was 16 for 10 months into Glasgow's city centre, & Now I look at renting as a total waste of money. So thought I'd get a mortgage instead, & Let other people 'waste' there money renting MY flat! Will be another young achievement to tuck under my belt. Land lord at 19. DON'T MESS!

Totally thinking out Loud.

I'm away for a sweat at the Gym.
Aim of the Game
GET BOD BACK.

Life is Busy

Hello! This week I haven't been able to blog until now. The Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards have arrived (well on Sunday) and work is, well, STREESSSSS! Everyone is running about like mentalist, yes we do this on a weekly basis but its totally sky rocketed this week! Nothing like a bit of pressure! WAAAA!

We have some of the TOWIE cast, and for all you that have managed to miss this phenomenon! THE ONLY WAY IS ESSEX crew will be in Glasgow on Sunday, and its our job to show them a damn good time! So that is Sunday, prior to this I have this huge project in work that has to be finished by next week, I have a photoshoot on Friday - but we'll get to that, and I'm working in Cruise on Saturday. Life is busy.

Photo shoot on Friday for Cameo Vintage - I was approached by the owner a few weeks ago now, where we got the ball rolling instantly. Since then a good few things have changed, the photographer has changed to my choice which is Derrick Argent, who is as hard working and determined as me. I feel it's essential now to have people like derrick in my life! When you work in this industry the choices you make stay with you forever, you might be able to forget a certain shoot or show, but there will always be photos as evidence! Girls! You need to be choosy with who you work with, stick to your guns and go for it. I think I will write a more in depth blog about this tomorrow, for now I will leave you with some Images as I have to scoot and put my face on, Wednesday night is - CINEMA NIGHT. Hangover 2 - AT LAST.

This is a shoot we did a while ago now, But for some reason it was never published. I don't know why I haven't - well The blonde hair and no make up? No not really, I actually had no idea this shoot had been completed until a couple of days ago. So here it is, Location - Glasgow's west end, Stylist and Creative Director - Leanne Soki Mak, Photographer Derrick Argent. As you can see, this is quite a different look, which makes Leaane so recognisable! Her style/vision is so distinctive! Stripper Heels, Weaves, Fore Head Jewellery are just some of the things only Leanne would think of. Leanne is one of Glasgow's true gems taking London and the world by storm! She is a freelance Stylist/ working for Sony records & Ministry of Sound, Yasmin, Ribbed, Honk with features in Grazia, Vogue UK & Dazed & Confused If that isn't enough she double's up as a designer in her own right with a collection COMMING SOON, so keep your ears peeled for release date.

& It's Here

Brains are Beautiful
Hi, I’m Lauren & I’m a model. This would be an opening line you I wouldn’t be caught dead saying. I think that would be so dull, to define your whole being to what people would perceive as being beautiful.  Truth be told you probably stand out more NOT being a ‘model’ as pouting into a camera seems to be a past time every man and their dog is testing the water with.
My name is Lauren Elizabeth Andrew, I am a creative director of www.inaa.com. I also write, maybe badly? Suppose you will get a feel for it after this? And I model, mostly paper bags and balaclavas – This is me. Down to a T.
I started modelling again about 12 months ago, and truth be told, I started because I wanted to be recognised and accepted. Maybe that’s not a cool thing to admit but it’s the Truth. When I started, I had a fair few set back’s one of which being height. Height is quite clearly a very important aspect of modelling. And 5.7’ just doesn’t quite cut it. But that just made me more determined, being told I couldn’t made me want to prove everyone wrong, of course. Sometime I would argue black was white, well me 12 months ago would have. So, after many long cold wet days, many many test shoot or what we call TFP (time for pictures) shoots. I have finally got to where nobody thought I would . And now I have I’m unsure of what it really is I want! Something I feel is so important and would encourage anyone to do is Follow your dreams, I haven’t quite figured out what my ideal is yet. But, I’m getting there.  So, wannabe models. If your reading this, work hard and don’t accept no for an answer.  But do not think that modelling is this glamorous life, where you get to keep the beautiful clothes and the rest of what we portray as the typical successful models life. It’s much harder than people let on and there is only few spaces at the top, so be determined and don’t give up. Have a plan A and B.
I’m lucky in the aspect that modelling actually helped my career. I was head hunted by my two boss’s through modelling. They approached me and asked me to be a part in this new company, I think at first they had a direction of face of the company. But now, after getting to know each other they realised and in fact pushed potential out of me and thankfully saw something (yeah I know, there must have been wine involved in the revelation right?) I was within my work encouraged to write and to push myself, I have now been given a director’s position that comes with a salary, and I am only 18 years young.  My plan B has turned out to be my plan A.
I write to INAA blog, and I have my own blog to. Check it out, It’s called WANNABE SHE. www.lustmustbeher.blogspot.com or www.wannabeshe.tumblr.com I chose Wannabe She because, that’s how I describe myself. As just another wannabe. Girls, don’t take yourselves to seriously. Have fun!! I was so serious and so set on being an adult all my life, it took me to be officially classed as an adult to realise you’ve got to have fun and be young as these are really the times of our lives.
Plans for the future? Aim High, Dream Big and keep doing what I’m doing. I’m still waiting on my break, or realising what it is I’m chasing but along the way whatever happens, I’m going to work hard play harder and enjoy  the ride!

Peace Love & Pouting

Sometimes It's Not Logical, It's Emotional

Well, It's clear to say I have let my hair down and whipped it around like the little 9 year old Superstar. & Now it's back to business. Work is mad mental this week as we're the Main Sponsor of Miss Scotland,  trying to make sure everything is still running smoothly at INAA & The Event! Blood sweat & tears! We have the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards in 1 week this Sunday which single handedly Joanne has organised herself! What a night it will be too, I'm so excited for the black tie event! Start the summer off the a BANG! So Miss Scotland's tonight, Just wanted to say Good Luck to all the girls but especially Sara & Rachel! Although I think its safe to say I have my opinions about 'beauty pageants' but Miss Scotland could be the only respectable one left in the country. More could be said for Uber Girl. But I suppose with that looming I can get it off my chest later in the week.

Even with all the madness of work being so busy, I have to admit I'm feeling pretty down, I know I shouldn't blog about negative things right? But I think it should be about life and we all know it comes with good and bad. Yeah, so.. I feel unsettled and a little lost. "We cannot learn without pain." I know all this, I know I should direct all emotion into something I feel passionate about. I KNOW ALL THIS! But it seems logic doesn't help when there is emotion. Someone told me I'm an extremest. If I go out lets say, then I GO ALL OUT! Just like work, I can't just be doing one thing I have to do 4, like my 4 jobs! So, you get the point. When things are bad, to me everything falls apart. I need to master the sheer talent of being Logical when emotional. Think with my head and ignore my heart. Well, not forever! But at least for now.

I don't even want to proof read what I've written so apologies in advance If it doesn't make sense.

No Expectations

The plan of joining new Gym was a FAIL. My Gran was over and made the best home cooked dinner EVA so I felt like a total pie after my 3rd serving. Gym was a no go, so feet were up, and The Apprentice was banged up onto the big screen, comfies were on ready for a snuggle with Mum, then, my phone rings and It's Usi K, I actually just missed it but with the immediate call back I knew then there was something going down. "Hello? everything ok?" .. "Yea L.A, how long do you take to get ready.?" "What are you talking about Usi" "Can you be ready in 15mins and in a taxi" "Er yeah ok?!" So I ran upstairs whilst bbm'ing him to see what the hell was going on. Then in usual Usi style, "La when I said get ready I mean you have to be an 11 out of 10 ready." I knew this is unrealistic at the best of times so was aiming for a mear 6 out of 10 as I had 10 mins to get into a taxi. Pijama's swapped for a play suit and slippers swapped for stiletto's I was in the taxi. Still not really sure what was going on. Usi called hurrying me up, of course. Then filled me in on why what who when..

LA, WE'RE GOING TO SEE SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA BABY

Not how I was planning on spending my night. But these unplanned nights always turn out the best. We got to the Barrowlands and even though I'm partial to a gig I've never actually been down that neck of the woods. We got there, and whilst waiting for a ticket to appear out of an envelope, out falls an AAA pass. Access All Areas. Yeah I know, was knew to me too. So still figuring out how the hell I got here, following the crowd not really realising where we were going. When I could see and hear the crowds to be honest I was more interested in where the bar was, Then realised that we were in fact standing at our seats, ON STAGE. wow wow wow wow. I can't even describe in words how good they were and only like 2 steps away!!

About an hour into the set, everything got way too hot, we were all jumping about like 5 year olds when the tour manager suddenly appeared kinda flapping about, we realised that he was actually looking for a hair bobble of all things? Luckily I had one close to reach. All three dj's have kinda Long hair as far as guys go, so sweat and hair isn't a good combo, the hair bobble was for them. YES, THIS MEANS STEVE ANGELLO WAS WEARING MY HAIR BOBBLE. It kinda made my night, how sad right?

Back stage, we made friends with who I thought were lucky mother fuckers like us, but once out of the noise and getting some fresh air discovered it was Steve Angello's brother, one the warm up acts! AN21 & Max Vangeli! They had to leave for the next venue - The Arches, we followed not not after with a quick pit stop at the Corinthian. AAA barrowlands apparently meant AAA in the Arches too. So we danced the night away, not stopping for hours, Backstage! After Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello had daringly stage dived 3 times into his loving Glaswegian fans, played another 3 hour set, they jumped off and let AN21 & Max on.

WHAT A NIGHT
I think I covered everything? So Thank you Disco Stu & Usi K for such a wonderful time with amazing company. BOOM. Now that is what I call a night out.

Surviving, - JUST - In work today, Had so much to be getting on with so kept FOCUSED. Obviously had to choose to go out on the School night where I was not only working the next day but had a long shoot straight after? So Yes. After work. I am Shooting with  photographer Derrick Argent and make up artist Kaeleigh Wallace. While we're at it giving Hayley Ross a helping hand with getting some Jewellery she's designed photographed! So it's ALL GO.

Natural Highs Baby

So Gym was a total success yesterday, a very sweaty success. I no sweat is a 'disgusting' thought, But isn't that was you go to the gym to do? I have a certain hate (which I have mentioned before) for girls that wear make up to the gym. WHY WHY WHY? I know make up covers up our insecurities but surely we are at the gym to improve what we can and work our ass's off? Not wear fake tan fake eyelashes hair extensions and paint make up on. I'm sorry but its all sorts of WRONG babes.

So yes, my make-up-less, no fake tan, no fake eyelashes, no fake hair Gym session, well, I SMASHED it and came out buzzing about life, Working out produces a chemical in your body called Endorphins which ultimately gives you a natural high! Love Natural Highs.

So after I got over my excitement, I met beautiful Rebecca for our film date, to find that in fact, being Orange Wednesday & the end of the month (aka when everyone's skint so Orange Wednesday becomes pretty essential) It was sold out, so we jumped in the car and went to the quay instead. I don't think either of us took a breathe once! We had so much to talk about. So that's what we did, right up until we were seated to watch the movie. Which was fabulous, I would recommend to all. WATER FOR ELEPHANTS people - winner! RR & I shouted at the screan a few times with legs vibrating with this tense atmosphere we had in fact created by being such freaks. It was such a tiny room too, I'm sure as always we made a lasting impression.

On the drive home we talked at each other for another hour before admitting defeat and heading to bed. Girl, we are riding that wave together. CRINGE after date texts made my day.

So my quiet week with modelling has turned into a busy one towards the end! I have 2 shoots now. A late one tomorrow night, very excited about that, then a more natural stripped back one on Saturday - equally excited for! Just before I hop skip and jump down to Manchester. Meetings on Monday. Hello nerves.

I am tonight, joining a new Gym
With a new Obsession with Health
I guess its better than some of my Old Obsessions?!

So, Until Tomorrow
Peace & Love

ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE

Feels like forever ago! One of my favourite memories of when I first started! Abi is one of my favourite models to work with, she's with model team in Glasgow and set for big things. Catherine Crowe, a make up artist I had been using on many of my shoots did make up and Rainbow Rooms did the hair. Fiona Taylor was the photographer and Lindsay was the stylist!

On the shoot when Catherine was bending over sorting out her kit, Me being me pointed out how huge her knockers had gotten, it was then when she told me she was in fact 8 months pregnant. Poor Catherine had been logging around Glasgow with me on about 6 shoots prior to this one, I am usually so observant, I swear! I didn't make her work again after that I promise
